CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines has made significant progress in the de-watering of Shaft 28, pumping out over 78.53 million cubic metres of water from a depth of 678.1 metres.
This represents an 81 percent completion rate, bringing the mine closer to resuming copper production.
In an interview, CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines public relations officer Tigomezge Bota said the project is expected to boost copper production and create 3,000 jobs.
He said the project is ahead of schedule as the de-watering process is expected to be completed by December.
“At 18 Shaft pumping point, 75.8 million cubic litres have been pumped out so far. Currently, we are only pumping intermittently when water accumulates, but at the moment, the shaft remains dry,” he said.
Mr Bota said the mine has already started removing the rubble underground, where the water has been pumped out.
