Cairn Energy is ready to give more time to see the deal with Vedanta through. CNBC-TV18 learns Cairn Energy is open to extending the deal deadline a second time. The current deal deadline is May 20.
The Cairn Energy's annual general meeting is scheduled for a day before the deadline, on May 19. Sources say that a call on the deadline will be taken close to the AGM. The company is likely to enquire into the government’s decision then.
Do remember the CCEA referred the proposed deal to a group of ministers (GoM) which has not met even once. Meanwhile, Vedanta's group company Sesa Goa has still not sought board representation for its 18.5% stake in Cairn India.
