First Quantum Minerals to Sell Shares on Zambian Exchange, Bourse Says

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (FM) plans to sell shares on Zambia’s stock exchange, Beatrice Nkanza, the chief executive of the bourse, said.

“The listing is end of June,” Nkanza said today by phone from Lusaka, the capital. “The more the demand from the market, the more shares they will offer.”

The Vancouver-based company said in January it planned to build a new copper mine and smelter in the southern African nation, Africa’s biggest producer of the metal.

Un achat de titres FQM présenterait pour le moins l'avantage d'être facile à valoriser au jour le jour!

Cela permettrait aussi aux Zambiens et à nous mêmes d'être associés aux nouveaux développements de First Quantum tel que celui de Trident.

Mais encore, cela permettrait à ZCCM-IH de recevoir des dividendes de manière régulière et beaucoup plus prévisible que cela ne l'est aujourd'hui.

Government to invest Lumwana earnings in other mines

THE government plans to invest money it will earn from the sale of its stake in
Lumwana in other mining projects, says finance minister Dr Situmbeko
Musokotwane.

Dr Musokotwake (right) said the government would consider upcoming and the
already stock-listed mining companies for investment.

“We can look at First Quantum which is already listed, KCM which also has plans
of listing and all the upcoming mines. These all present an opportunity for us,”
Dr Musokotwane said in an interview.

“The ideal thing is to get this money to be reinvested. Buy new shares in a
mining company…that is our preference.”

He said the government was trying to raise its investment portfolio in ZCCM-IH.
Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Investment Holdings Plc (ZCCM-IH) agreed to
sell 2.28 per cent stake in Equinox, which it holds on behalf of the government,
as part of the unconditional approval for Barrick’s C$7.3 billion (US$7.5
billion) takeover of the company and the copper producer’s Lumwana mine.

“What we are trying to do is to have the investment portfolio for ZCCM-HI keep
on improving…not necessarily them running the mine but them buying shareholding
in the mining companies,” Dr Musokotwane said.

He, however, did not say how soon the government would make the investments.
“ZCCM-HI made the investment but as a major stakeholder we have a say and soon
we will come up with something,” he said.

Dr Musokotwane further said the money from the sale would also be used to settle
ZCCM-HI’s debt.

Meanwhile, the North-Western Province council of Elders said the sale of
government shares in Lumwana may affect the popularity of the MMD in Solwezi.
Lucas Chikoti said people in the area were not happy with the government’s move.

“We are giving away our birth rights and we want to urge the government not to
go ahead with this move, as custodians of the land we are supposed to have
shares in these mines so that we get something from it, I have been receiving
phone calls from different people who hail from here and they are saying they
have been cheated for long and they want a fair share of what is being mined,”
he said.

Chikoti said the province would be denied of the income from the mines because
currently the government was not getting enough tax from the mines.

“We can't accept this to happen, the government should make changes because at
the moment people are not seeing the development that these mines were putting
up. The mine compound has no water, electricity and there is no sign that there
is a mine there,” said Chikoti.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (FM) plans to sell shares on Zambia’s stock exchange as it expands operations in the southern African nation, said Beatrice Nkanza, the chief executive officer of the bourse.
“The listing is end of June,” Nkanza said today by phone from Lusaka, the capital. “The more the demand from the market, the more shares they will offer.” The Vancouver-based company planned to start a roadshow on June 13 to test investor appetite for shares, she said.
First Quantum, seeking to diversify after a battle over mining rights in the Democratic Republic of Congo, announced in January it planned to invest more than $1 billion to build the Trident copper mine and a smelter in Zambia, Africa’s biggest producer of the metal. Its Kansanshi and Kalumbia will produce 700,000 metric tons of copper by 2015, Chief Executive Officer Philip Pascall said on April 29.
The company will also build a new hydropower station near the Trident mine to ensure continuous supply of electricity, according to Pascal.
Copper for delivery in three-months fell 0.7 percent on the London Metal Exchange to $8,970 a ton by 11 a.m. in Johannesburg.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd (FM) prévoit de vendre des actions en bourse de la Zambie car elle étend ses opérations dans les pays d'Afrique australe, a déclaré Béatrice Nkanza, le chef de la direction de la Bourse.
"La liste est la fin de Juin», a déclaré aujourd'hui Nkanza par téléphone à partir de Lusaka, la capitale. "Le plus à la demande du marché, le plus d'actions qu'ils offriront." La société de Vancouver a prévu de lancer un roadshow sur Juin 13 à tester l'appétit des investisseurs pour les actions, dit-elle.
First Quantum, qui cherchent à diversifier après une bataille sur les droits miniers en République démocratique du Congo, a annoncé en Janvier il est prévu d'investir plus de 1 milliard $ pour construire la mine de cuivre Trident et une fonderie en Zambie, plus grand producteur de l'Afrique du métal. Son Kansanshi et Kalumbia produira 700 000 tonnes métriques de cuivre d'ici à 2015, chef de la direction de Philip Pascall a dit le 29 avril.
La société va également construire une nouvelle centrale hydroélectrique près de la mine Trident d'assurer un approvisionnement continu en électricité, selon Pascal.
Cuivre pour livraison dans trois mois a diminué de 0,7 pour cent à la Bourse des métaux de Londres à 8.970 dollars la tonne par 11 heures à Johannesburg.

je réitère ce que je disais en précisant une possibilité...

les minority interest qui sont vue comme une dette pour FQM pourraient être convertis en nouveaux titres FQM...


FQM devra en effet lever du cash, pres de 1 milliard, pour financer SENTINEL...

Les 400 M de dettes dus à ZCCM-IH qui vont devenir 440/450 à fin juin et qui progressent au rythme de 40/45 M$ actuellement chaque trimestre pourraient etre de plus en plus génant pour FQM

Certes cet argent ne leur coute rien mais politiquement cela pourrait leur nuire

L'IPO que pourrait faire FQM ( rien d'annoncé pour l'instant mais probabilité forte), pourrait etre en partie réservé à ZCCM-IH...

le paiement pourrait se faire de deux manières

- cash de EQUINOX
- échange de dette contre nouvelles actions

Une tel processus ne nous pousserai pas à céder nos titres kansanshi et nous pourrions ainsi monter au capital de KANSANSHI via notre monté dans FQM

Perso je répète que je pense que cela serait une excellente chose

ZCCM-IH serait alors actionnaire directement de FQM et bénéficierait par l'occasion à la fois de la future forte progression de production de kansanshi, et du développement d'une autre grande mine SENTINEL

Politiquement le gouvernement actuel ne fait pas trop de pressions donc je ne vois pas pourquoi il ferait cela....

Pour les 1 milliard à financer, FQM à une trésorie très solide plus les rentrées importantes chaque trimestre, ils ont pas vraiment besoin de beaucoup de cash.

les élections arrivent, comme par hasard FQM entre en bourse en juin

cette possibilité est de plus en plus possible suite aux dernières annonces du ministres des mines relatées hier soir

notamment l'achat ferme mais pour le moment pas sur les minority interest (c ce que j'espère et que j'ai soufflé dernièrement à différentes personnes du board)

Autre intérêt, étant au K de FQM, on pourrait soutenir la direction et s'assurer que les intérêts de ces minus de minos ne soient jamais payés.

Heu, j'aurai peut-être pas du prendre la route de la corniche, moi.
