The ZCCM Investment Holdings (IH) is in the process of carry out a base line survey on all mining areas countrywide to collect data on the current status of all mines. The decision follows a request by Federation of Small Scale Miners Association of Zambia (FSSMAZ) to allow ZCCM-IH select potential mines which the latter would subsequently enter into mining joint venture and provide a revolving fund to smale-scale mining. ZCCM-IH investment manager Mwiza Mbewe said the company has partnered with financial institutions and other organizations to help fund the exercise adding that ZCCM-IH does not have adequate financial capacity to run the programme. Mr Mbewe said, upon doing the survey, ZCCM-IH will then release the funds to address the needs of the association and enhance their growth. He said this at a joint meeting between FSSMAZ and ZCCM-IH held in Lusaka last Friday.
