ZCCM declares K256m dividend

ZCCM-Investment Holdings has declared and paid a dividend of 256 million Kwacha to the treasury for 2014.

ZCCM-IH Chief Executive Officer Pius Kasolo says the company was able to pay the dividends due to the good performance of the mines in 2014.

Dr. Kasolo however, said the financial report for the year 2015 recorded a tax loss of 987 million Kwacha due to a number of factors.

He pointed that among the many factors that have led to the low performance of the mines is the low copper price on the international market.

Dr. Kasolo added that all the mines recorded losses due to a decline in production.

The ZCCM-IH chief also disclosed that the company wants to diversify to other sectors such as energy, agriculture and real estate.

Dr Kasolo said the company has already started identifying a number of strategic legacy properties and partners to invest in the various sectors.

He said this at a press briefing in Lusaka today.
