Submit requests to ZCCM-IH, farmers told
Currently, ZCCM-IH’s majority shareholder is Government via the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and its vision is to be Zambia’s leading investment company.
ZNFU office manager for research, economics and consultancy Judy Hamonzwe said in a statement availed that ZCCM-IH portfolio currently, is mainly composed heavily towards the mining sector but, it plans to diversify to other sectors of the economy such as agriculture.
“ZNFU is in receipt of a letter from ZCCM-IH requesting for a list of commercial farmers that would be willing to partner with it in farming. For those interested can kindly submit details to ZNFU head office for compilation and onward submission to ZCCM-IH by April 11, 2016,” Ms Hamonzwe said.
She said ZCCM-IH has acquired 2,000 hectares with water frontage in Lufwanyama for agriculture.
Last year, ZCCM-IH sold 28 million shares it holds to Zambians both locally and abroad through the Lusaka Stock Exchange to enable the public take an active role in the running of Zambian big mining companies.
