VEEP attracts foreign investors

An international company has expressed interest to invest in Cassava production in Zambia.

Vice President, Inonge Wina, says the company is interested in partnering with the ZCCM Investment Holdings in carrying out the project.

The project is expected to create two thousand jobs, through the empowerment of local farmers in Cassava production in a farming block yet to be announced.

Sylvia Kabala reports that Mrs Wina said in an interview in London that more investment deals are expected between government and some foreign businesses interested to invest in Zambia.

She says more details on the Cassava production investment deal will be released as soon as the deal is sealed.

Mrs. Wina is in London, where she attended the UK-Zambia Investment Forum, to highlight government’s commitment to promote Foreign Direct Investment in the country.

Mrs. Wina described the Forum as a success, adding that a good number of UK businesses are already making follow up engagements on the possibilities of them setting up business in Zambia.

The Forum was showcasing Zambia’s investment potential in agriculture, energy, mining, tourism and other sectors.
