First Quantum Minerals REPORTS Q1 2011 PRODUCTION OF

74,900 TONNES OF COPPER AND 49,100 OUNCES OF GOLD



First Quantum Minerals Ltd. ("First Quantum" or the "Company", TSX Symbol "FM", LSE Symbol "FQM") today reported Q1 2011 production of 74,900 tonnes of copper and 49,100 ounces of gold. Lower overall copper production, compared to Q1 2010, reflects the forced shutdown of operations at the Frontier mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo in August 2010.

Finished copper inventory at March 31, 2011 increased to approximately 40,100 tonnes of copper (Kansanshi 28,900 tonnes, Guelb Moghrein 11,100 tonnes, Frontier 100 tonnes (at dispatch port)), from the December 31, 2010 level of 37,000 tonnes.



Note: Production and stockpile numbers are preliminary and subject to final adjustment.



Further information will be published in the Company's report on operating and financial results for the quarter which is scheduled for release during the week of May 09, 2011.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd ("First Quantum" ou la "Société", TSX Symbole "FM", LSE Symbole "FQM") a annoncé aujourd'hui T1 2011 la production de 74.900 tonnes de cuivre et 49.100 onces d'or. Baisse de la production globale de cuivre, par rapport au 1er trimestre 2010, reflète l'arrêt forcé des opérations à la mine Frontier en République démocratique du Congo en août 2010.

Stocks de cuivre fini à Mars 31, 2011 a augmenté à environ 40 100 tonnes de cuivre (28 900 tonnes Kansanshi, Guelb Moghrein 11 100 tonnes, 100 tonnes Frontier (lieu de départ du port)), de la Décembre 31, 2010 Niveau de 37.000 tonnes.



Note: Les chiffres de production et des stocks sont préliminaires et sujettes à ajustement final.

Sur un rythme de 260 000 T/ année pleine pour Kansanshi. Augmentation de la production annoncée et ....en cours de réalisation... et des coûts en baisse.
