JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed diversified miner Metorex has resumed full output at its Chibuluma copper mine, after mining at the Zambia operation were temporarily halted this week, the company reported on Thursday.

It had suspended production at the mine on Tuesday, in the wake of wage negotiations, which were now continuing while the mine resumed production.

Chibuluma has a milling capacity of 50 000 t/m and the copper headgrade has improved as mining advanced through the waste parting present during the previous year and is expected to further increase with depth.

Chibuluma South is now a fully established mine with 4,7-million tons of reserve at an improving grade. Predevelopment of the decline shaft was progressing on schedule ensuring increased maximum mining flexibility.
