Ndola Lime shuts down

A check by the Zambai Watchdog at the plant in Ndola today found workers camped outside the company premises as no one was allowed to get into the plant while the Directors were locked in an emergency meeting over the matter.

But impeccable sources at the company confirmed the shut down and when contacted, Public Relations Manager Muke Meleke referred all the questions to company secretary a Mr Kapambwe who was reportedly out of the office and was unreachable on his mobile.

Some of the concerned workers who declined to have their names mentioned for fear of victimization from management said they were demanding for a 25 percent salary increment across the board and KR1000 as education allowance for each child. They have rejected the paltry 9.5 percent salary increment and KR500 education allowance for each child company has given them.that the

The workers said they cannot accept what management has offered because Ndola Lime is a viable company which cannot fail to meet their demands and said that management was stealing from the company which is the reason they had failed to meet their demands.

The angry workers vowed not to resume work until management meets their demands.
