CEC

Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) is believed to have stopped the pass through payments to electricity generator ZESCO while it is not being paid in full by theZambian Copper Corporation(ZCCM). The National Grid/Cinergy joint venture has taken over the transmission business in the copper producing area. But just as it did, plans to sell-off ZCCM to major international companies fell through and payments from ZCCM slowed. CEC is allowed to stop the payments to ZESCO, the country's electricity generator. It is not clear if CEC has lost additional revenues.
