Luanshya resumes copper production

PRODUCTION at Luanshya Copper Mine (LCM) officially began yesterday, exactly 11 months after the former owners, Enya Holdings, placed it on care and maintenance as a result of the global financial crisis.

China Non-Ferrous Metal Mining Company (CNMC) deputy chief executive officer Xiang Gau confirmed the resumption of production at the mine in an interview from Luanshya yesterday.

“We have actually commenced official production today and everything is going as per schedule, and all the new equipment is working perfectly well,” Mr Xiang said.

CNMC bought the mine at US$50 million from Enya Holdings.
Mr Xiang said underground blasting began several days ago and that all the replaced new equipment at the mine has been tested and is working well.

“All the crushers and ore receiving bins are functioning well, and we are this evening (yesterday) expected to test the concentrator together with other combined equipment at the same time. But in general, all the equipment is working fantastic,” Mr Xiang said.

He said CNMC has also replaced the 11-kilometre conveyor belt to transport copper ore from underground to receiving bins.
Mr Xiang said more people in Luanshya will be employed following the commencement of full production at the mine.

The mine recruited 2,200 full-time employees before it began full production yesterday.
CNMC took over the mine from Enya holdings on June 25.

The mine was placed under care and maintenance for six months before the new investor acquired it.
The Chinese mining firm is expected to inject US$400 million into the operation in the next four years.
And several stakeholders have commended CNMC for beginning full production at the mine.

Mine Workers Union of Zambia (MUZ) general secretary Oswell Munyenyembe said in an interview yesterday that the commencement of full production at the LCM is welcome because it will create more job opportunities for the people of Luanshya.

Mr Munyenyembe said MUZ is happy that CNMC has lived up to its earlier pronouncement of starting full production before the end of the year after it took over the mine.

“MUZ shall give all the support to CNMC now that full production has started, and we hope that management will co-operate with MUZ for the benefit of both miners and the new investor,” Mr Munyenyembe said.

PRODUCTION AU Luanshya Copper Mine (LCM) a officiellement commencé hier, exactement 11 mois après les anciens propriétaires, Enya Holdings, qu'il a mis sur les soins et l'entretien en raison de la crise financière mondiale.

China Non-Ferrous Metal Mining Company (CNMC) Deputy Chief Executive Officer Xiang Gau a confirmé la reprise de la production à la mine dans une interview de Luanshya hier.

«Nous avons effectivement débuté la production officielle, aujourd'hui, et tout se passe selon le calendrier, et tout le nouvel équipement fonctionne parfaitement bien", a déclaré M. Xiang.

CMCN acheté la mine à 50 millions $ US provenant d'exploitations Enya.
M. Xiang a déclaré un sautage souterrain a débuté il ya plusieurs jours et que tous les nouveaux équipements remplacés à la mine a été testé et fonctionne bien.

"Tous les concasseurs et de minerai de recevoir des bacs fonctionnent bien, et nous sommes ce soir (hier) devrait tester le concentrateur ainsi que les équipements combinée autre en même temps. Mais en général, tous les équipements fonctionnent fantastique ", a déclaré M. Xiang.

Il a dit CMCN a également remplacé les 11 kilomètres de tapis roulant pour le transport de minerai de cuivre du métro de recevoir les poubelles.
M. Xiang a déclaré plus de personnes dans Luanshya seront employées suivant le début de la pleine production à la mine.

La mine a recruté 2200 employés à temps plein avant le début de la pleine production hier.
CMCN a repris la mine d'exploitations Enya sur Juin 25.

La mine a été placée sous les soins et l'entretien pendant six mois avant le nouvel investisseur a acquis.
La société minière chinoise est prévu d'injecter 400 millions de dollars dans l'opération au cours des quatre prochaines années.
Et plusieurs intervenants ont félicité CMCN pour commencer la pleine production à la mine.

Mine Workers Union of Zambia (MUZ) Secrétaire général Oswell Munyenyembe déclaré dans une interview hier que le début de la production à la LCM est la bienvenue parce qu'elle va créer davantage d'emplois pour les gens de Luanshya.

M. Munyenyembe dit MUZ est heureux que CMCN a vécu jusqu'à son jugement précédent de démarrage de la production totale avant la fin de l'année après qu'elle a repris la mienne.

"MUZ doit donner tout le soutien à CMCN maintenant que la pleine production a commencé, et nous espérons que la direction de co-opérer avec MUZ pour le bénéfice tant des mineurs et le nouvel investisseur, M. Munyenyembe dit.
