Chambishi Fonderie de cuivre a pour objectif de doubler ses activités et d'accroître la capacité de production annuelle de cuivre blister.
La société a déclaré dans un rapport d'évaluation au Conseil environnemental de la Zambie indique que les USD 300 millions état de l'art chinois exploités fonderie, située à environ 420 kilomètres de la capitale de Lusaka prévoit augmenter sa production de cuivre blister à 250.000 tonnes par an à partir de 150.000 tonnes cours de production.
Le rapport indique que certains des plans destinés à de la fonderie comprennent l'abaissement du coût de production, au regard de la diminution des prix des métaux sur le marché international des métaux et à une réduction ou à maximiser la quantité d'effluents rejetés dans l'environnement naturel à l'extérieur de la fonderie .
Elle a l'intention d'améliorer encore le taux de récupération du cuivre à 98% et d'améliorer le taux de récupération de dioxyde de soufre émis dans l'environnement à 95% par le biais de diverses mesures.
Pour y parvenir, le mineur prévoit d'étendre les concentrés hangar, l'extension du bâtiment pour le four et le convertisseur et de construire une usine d'acide supplémentaires et les unités de l'oxygène.
Le rapport ajoute que la construction de l'unité de concentrateur comprenant des scories système de refroidissement, installations de concassage et broyage des circuits de flottaison ainsi que la construction de l'usine de lixiviation et modification des installations auxiliaires.
Monsieur le président Rupiah Banda de la Zambie a commandé l'Chambishi Fonderie de cuivre le 18 Octobre 2009 et a salué la Chine pour son ardeur indéfectible à investir en Zambie dans divers secteurs de l'économie.

Chambishi Copper Smelter aims to double its operations and increase the annual production capacity of blister copper.
The company said in an assessment report to the Environmental Council of Zambia that the USD 300 million state of the art Chinese operated smelter, lying about 420 kilometers from the capital of Lusaka plans to increase production of blister copper to 250,000 tonnes per annum from 150,000 tonnes currently produced.
The report said that some of the intended plans of the smelter include the lowering of the cost of production in light of the reduced metal prices on the international metal market and a reduction or maximize on the amount of effluent released to the natural environment outside the smelter.
It further intends to improve on the copper recovery rate to 98% and improve on the sulphur dioxide recovery rate emitted to the environment to 95% through various measures.
To achieve this, the miner plans to expand the concentrates shed, extending of the building for the furnace and the converter and construct an additional acid plant and oxygen units.
The report added that construction of the concentrator unit comprising of slag cooling system, crusher milling plant and floatation circuits as well as constructing the leach plant and modification of auxiliary facilities.
Mr Rupiah Banda president of Zambia commissioned the Chambishi Copper Smelter on October 18th 2009 and hailed China for its unwavering zeal to invest in Zambia in various sectors of the economy.
