Over two thousand jobs are expected to be created after Chinese investors take over the Munali Nickel Mine and Luashya Copper Mines.
Chinese Ambassador to Zambia LI QUIANGMIN said that the mines will soon be opened and that negotiations are going on well.

Mr QUIANGMIN assured government that chinese investors will immediately take up companies that closed down due to the financial global recession.

He said that Zambia has proved to be have good investment opportunities for the chinese businessmen..

Mr QUIANGMIN was speaking last night during the launch of the standard Chartered Bank China-Africa Network in Lusaka.

He said that china will continue to increase its corporation and assistance to the Zambian government.

And Standards Chartered Southern Africa Chief Executive Officer WASHINGSTON MATSAIRA said that SME banking is a strategic business and a key platform for future growth.

Meanwhile, Standard Charted Bank Zambia Managing Director MIZINGA MELU said that China -Africa Network initiative is designed to assist SME conduct cross border business and facilitate trade between Zambia and China.

Ms MELU said that despite the global recession China has continued to invest in Zambia.
