Kunda praises CNMC
Vice- President George Kunda has praised China Nonferrous Metal Mining Company -CNMC- for the huge investment it has made in Zambia's mining sector.
Mr. Kunda says the investment has greatly contributed to the economic development of the country.
Mr. Kunda said the state-owned company's various mining ventures on the Copperbelt have created jobs and improved the lives of many Zambians.
He was speaking in Beijing thursday after touring the CNMC's exhibition hall which showcases investments the company has made in Zambia and around the world.
Mr. Kunda said the re-opening of the Luanshya Copper Mine and setting up of new mining projects have made the company an important partner in Zambia's economic development.
He explained that CNMC is also about to finish the construction and development of Zambia-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone which is expected to create over 6,000 jobs in Zambia.
The Vice-President said the MMD government under the leadership of President Rupiah Banda will continue to provide a conducive environment for investment.
And CNMC President Luo Tao said his company has invested more than two billion US dollars in Zambia.
